The modern digital camera can reproduce wide dynamic range in a single exposure. Some models reproducing 14EV or more. This is still less than the human eye can perceive. Thought to be in excess of 20 EV that enable us to see from extreme darkness to bright sunlight. In 1940s, Ansel Adams – the master landscape photographer formulated “The Zone System” technique for guaranteeing a correct exposure. To show more detail on one image, by metering correctly from shadow to highlight to ensure the film was exposed and then printed to deliver information throughout the contrast range.
To achieve the best image in scenes of extreme contrast rather than trying to manipulate the camera settings, or by using combined images blended with HDR (High Dynamic Range) the expert photographer prefers to use a Gradual Neutral Density filter to bring equality across the exposure area.
H&Y are committed to continually improving image quality, matching todays high resolution cameras and lenses. Optical performance is paramount for landscape photographers using Gradual Neutral Density filters and filter holders.
High Resolution and Low Colourcast
By using high quality Corning Gorilla III glass with Nano coatings K-series GND filters achieve extremely high resolution, ultra-low colourcast and outstanding colour rendition. Perfect gradation is achieved by by means of an original vacuum-evaporated coating process.
High Transmission and Ultra-low Reflection
With double sided anti reflective nano coatings on high transmission Corning Gorilla II glass, K series GND filters are extremely efficient at neutralising reflected light
Greater Damage Resistance using CORNING® GORILLA® GLASS 3
Corning is continually looking for ways to improve Gorilla Glass and achieve new levels of tough. Gorilla® Glass 3 is not only chemically strengthened — its atomic configuration is formulated so that the glass is more durable. Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 is fundamentally tougher and more damage resistant even before chemical strengthening.
How tough? Gorilla® Glass 3 enables improved damage resistance and toughness compared to former glass compositions and is up to three times more damage resistant than Gorilla Glass 2. This is a unique feature of Gorilla® Glass 3. Something Corning is able to provide due to a proprietary glass composition that is better able to resist the deep scratches that cause glass to break.
Water & Oil Repellent
The Anti-Smear hydrophobic Nano coating keeps the filters clean and makes it easier to wipe off any dirt, dust or liquid from the surface.
High Resistance to Scratch Damage
Gorilla Glass has been widely used in everyday digital devices such as smartphones and tablets due to its high resistance to scratch damage. With Nano coatings on the surface photographers can worry less about scratching and more about getting the shot.
Round Corners for Enhanced Safety
The round corner design on our graduated filters are something we added for your safety to reduce likelihood of accidentally cutting yourself while handling.
Mounted in K-Series Filter Frame
The frame system is one of the biggest innovations to square filters in decades. The metal frame allows the filter to quickly snap on/off or have its position adjusted on the lens. The removal of large side flanges that other filter systems use mean you can use the the 100mm filters on wider angle lenses than any other filter system on the market. The metal frame also makes frames easier to handle without leaving fingerprints and further increases the resistance to breakage.
